At the YMCA, families can do a variety of activities such as enrolling in a particular program or class, giving back to the community through a volunteer activity, or just spending time together building a strong family bond.

We know that central Iowa's future depends on the strength of our children and the foundation of our families. Research continues to show that children who have strong relationships with parents make better choices. Parent-child programs such as the YMCA Adventure Guides and other YMCA family programs help strengthen relationships early on. Once communication patterns are established and parents and children are at ease with one another, it is much easier to maintain good intergenerational communications.
